From the day I learned to read
My imagination felt freed
From A to M and from N to Z
I discovered plenty of tales for me
But I couldn't help wondering
Once in a while
I couldn't stop pondering
About what else would make me smile
What would I change
In any old book
Things are indeed very strange
And that's simply all it took
I decided right there
That the stories could be improved
Some things weren't fair
And I didn't approve
The villains never won
And the princes had no choice
The animals had no fun
We never got to hear their voice!
So here I go Bear with me
Grab a pillow And some tea
The stories are rewritten
But there's no need to be frightened
My stories are now told
Let's go change the old!
What if Cinderella went back for her shoe,
Lets not forget that it was new!
However she left the prince behind
There's no need for that guy!
Let's say Snow White was allergic to apples
Or even better, she was allergic to animals!
That would be quite a good story
"ACHOO! Achoo! I'm so sorry!"
What if Sleeping beauty wasn't actually asleep
But hiding under the covers, having a good weep?
Her favorite book character just died
So she cried and she cried!
What if the Beast though Belle was too ugly?
He wasn't quite that lonely
He could have had a choice
He had the right to think twice!
Let's say Ariel was afraid of drowning
Now don't start frowning!
Who says a mermaid can't be
Afraid of the big, dark sea?
What if Pinocchio's nose grew not because he was lying
(If so, the guy wouldn't have stopped crying)
But what if it was a lie detector
And he was an inspector?
What would happen if Peter Pan was afraid of flying
And Captain Hook wasn't terrifying?
Would they be good friends
Is that how the story ends?
What if Mogli was afraid of the jungle
That would make many people giggle
Oh no! A bear!
It would give him quite a scare!
Say Aladdin was afraid of heights
And the genie never arrives
Jasmine doesn't like traveling
She finds the idea simply unnerving!
Little red riding Hood
Did what she could
The big bad wolf couldn't fool her
He couldn't shave off all his fur!
The three little pigs
Didn't build their house out of twigs
The wolf couldn't blow it down
And he left with a frown
The frog refused to kiss the princess
No need to make a fuss!
She was simply too boring
And before long the frog was snoring
Rapunzel fancied a hair cut
And I'll tell you what,
The prince was the one with the long hair
Isn't that more fair?
What if Alice was just getting old
So she climbed out of our world
And fell in wonderland
Leaving her sorrows behind
I'd rather read those stories
Forget about the fairies!
The tales are retold
We have now changed the old.
