Q: What is unique about the AP Program?
A: The Advanced Placement program has a long and successful history at CDL which has been offering AP courses for over 40 years and CDL students have been highly successful on AP examinations as our results a far beyond the world average.
Q: What is the typical AP student profile?
A: AP students come from diverse backgrounds and share a commitment to academic achievement and a love of learning. The AP Program is committed to encouraging participation in AP classes by a variety of students. Students need to be motivated and ready and willing to work on a college level course.
Q: What do students need to do to get into the AP program?
A: Find out as much as possible about the requirements of the program. This information is provided each spring as we go through the options process for both Gr11 and Gr12 students. You can also access useful information on the CDL Studentvoice website.
Q: What do colleges think of the AP Program?
A: Taking AP courses can improve a student's chance of getting accepted to a competitive college. Colleges and universities recognize that applicants with AP experience are much better prepared for the demands of college courses. Admissions officers are well aware of the difficulty of AP courses and exams. In addition, high scoring AP exams results ( 4 or 5 ) may earn university credit or higher level placement in certain subjects.
Q: Are AP exam scores recognised outside of the U.S.?
A: Yes, for example, UK Bachelors courses, or research universities in the Netherlands which require specific AP exams for students applying with a High School Diploma.
